Angel Rubio Serrano
Angel Rubio Serrano was the manager of the Sunrise Hotel for nearly seven decades.
From the moment the hotel opened, it was as if he had been summoned. Angel was originally from Mexico and greatly influenced the colour palette and design of the hotel.
His living quarters were known by all the staff and long-term guests as a confession box, therapy office, bar and doghouse. Angel cycled through about 15 Greyhounds in his time at the Sunrise. Every dog shared the name, Hefe. In his mind, the dogs were the boss.
El Capitan resented this sentiment and banished the tropical Iditarod and no longer allowing them to roam the property freely. Today wild Greyhounds can be found roaming the hotel grounds and only respond to ‘Hefe.’ Don’t worry, they do not bite
